I’ve bought, tried and returned several matching sets from Amazon. All of them were either ill fitting, too short, poor quality or too trendy (IMO). But I still loved the idea of a matching set to make getting dressed easier in the winter months. So I decided to make my own matching sets from my favorite Athleisure items. The best part is most of these items are around $20 and a whole set can be pulled together for under $50.

Tis the season for the winter capsule wardrobe. This season I’m focused on identifying great basics that will build your core wardrobe. I heard recently that if you’re having trouble getting dressed, it’s probably because you don’t have good basics. And its so true! This capsule wardrobe is classic modern style but I’ve really kept trendier items to a minimum. In each section, I’ve also included the one item I’d buy if I had to pick just one. I don’t know about y’all but I find getting ready for church to be stressful. We attend a more traditional service and so I dress up more on Sundays than any other day of the week. However, I don’t want to buy tons of dressy clothes when the other 6 days of the week look more like jeans and tennis shoes. In this post, I put together a bunch of outfits that use elements of my day to day wardrobe while also being appropriate for a more traditional church service. And because I know many of us attend a more modern service where jeans and more casual wear is acceptable, I’m sharing a few ideas for simple pulled together looks here too.
